Rehabilitation tools
In a joint project with our partners from TvoryDobro, who, as Berliners with Ukrainian roots, have been doing admirable work in those past three years, this time we are providing these pneumatic gloves to a rehabilitation centre in Ukraine. They help people injured in the war to regain strength and feeling in their hands through systematic training. As we are normally mainly involved in clinical emergency aid, I was initially sceptical. Could this be an effective form of therapy? But in fact, our Ukrainian colleagues have by now achieved considerable success using this approach. As was the case repeatedly before in this war, I had to re-learn and question what I considered certain. Not every solution that works in our latitudes and under peacetime conditions is necessarily a good idea when resources are scarce and in a war scenario. Unusual circumstances often require unusual measures and the mental flexibility to reassess the value of available options!
Please continue to help us in the hotspots of this war. And help using the means that work best on the ground!
