Primary Healthcare in a war zone
Snapshots of our work with our partners from the Ukrainian NGO X-Traverse in the Kharkiv region. Despite the constant threat level, people walk several kilometres to see a doctor and receive basic medicines at least once in a while. During the day, we were interrupted several times by incoming artillery fire in the area and drones flying overhead nearby. All of this his hardly raises an eyebrow any more among these people, as it is part of their everyday lives. They cannot leave, because they are caring for relatives, are too poor or too sick, or have to look after their animals. Our colleagues in the picture are doing impressive work here. The map shows the approximate distance to the Russian border (white line). For security reasons, the actual location is not shown.
